Mozart will inaugurate the 58th Spoleto Festival of 2Worlds!
The 58th edition of the Festival of 2Worlds will be inaugurated with a new production, in collaboration with the Ravenna Festival and the Teatro Coccia in Novara, of Mozart’s Così fan tutte based on the libretto written byLorenzo Da Ponte: the story of a bet on the faithfulness of women, an extraordinarily complex Opera on the meaning of love. The Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded by Riccardo Muti, is conducted by James Conlon, the internationally renowned conductor, the stage setting and costumes are by the Oscar winners Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo, the lighting by Daniele Nannuzzi and directed by Giorgio Ferrara. For the Final Concert, Jeffrey Tate, amongst the most renowned and versatile British conductors of his generation, will be conducting the Italian Youth Orchestra of the Fiesole Music School, with music by Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. (Piazza Duomo, July 12)
The Dance section will open with Sara Baras, amongst the most renowned and versatile stars of Spanish flamenco, bringing the show Voces to the Spoleto 58 stage in the role of passionate choreographer as well as regal performer. With a journey through the history of flamenco, he and his company will pay tribute to the wonderful artists who have made this art well-known and loved all over the world:Paco de Lucia, Camarón de la Isla, Antonio Gades, Enrique Morente, and Moraito and Carmen Amaya. Dans le pas de Noureev, will be an Italian premier exclusively for the Spoleto 58 Festival of 2Worlds, starring the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, under the artistic direction of Kader Belarbi, the étoile who danced at the Paris Opera when Nureyev was present. The show pays tribute to the legendary Russian dancer and choreographer of the twentieth century and to his most famous creations. (Teatro Romano, July 9-10-11)
